From 1981 on the Polo was available in three body versions for the first time. The hatchback, coupé and sedan could now also be ordered with a diesel engine and the Coupé with a G40 engine. The Type 86C came from a study by the Volkswagen named Sciwago and underwent only one facelift until 1994. Even the music group Genesis liked the Polo and were the inspiration for the GENESIS special model. “I can‘t dance” but “we can supply spare parts” for the Polo and that in large numbers.
