Depending on the vehicle specification, engine and chassis number, it is suitable for the VW Golf model years 1990 to 1992, VW Golf Cabriolet model years 1984 to 1993, VW Jetta model years 1990 to 1992, VW Scirocco model years 1984 to 1992 and VW Corrado model years 1989 to 1995.

Within these model years, compatibility is limited to the following chassis number ranges:

• VW Corrado: up to 50-M-027 000
• VW Golf and VW Jetta: up to 1G-MW720 000 or 1G-MB225 000
• VW Golf Cabriolet: up to 15-M-027 000
• VW Scirocco: up to 53-M-010 000
